Victorian Tintype Photo Brooch
£64.00
This is a great piece of Victorian Mourning Jewellery. A brooch featuring a Tintype photograph of a well dressed gentleman.
Tintype photography creates the image directly onto a thin sheet of metal, colloquially called ‘tin’, coated with a dark lacquer or enamel and used as the support for the photographic emulsion.
Tintypes enjoyed their widest use during the 1860s and 1870s, but have recently seen a re-emergence as a fine-art medium.
The brooch measures 3.4cm in diameter.
