Today’s #FeaturedFriday piece is a beautiful little rolled gold pendant in the shape of a heart with a bird etched onto it.
Rolled gold was first created in the 19th century but became was extremely popular in the Victorian period where it was used for costume/cheaper jewellery making gold jewellery more available to the general public.
Rolled gold is created by heat fusing thin layers of gold onto both sides of a base metal which is then rolled into a sheet before being made into Jewellery. This process uses more gold than other methods of gold plating and produces a more durable finish.
This necklace has now sold, but pop along to a market to see what Rolled Gold pieces we have in stock.
