Environmental Policy
Glitzy Vintage Jewellery – aka Clara & Kyle Carlos – are committed to reducing the environmental impact & waste generation in the world of Costume Jewellery through our products and actions.
Our aim is to recover and reuse as much of the original materials in our source jewellery, to keep it in use and out of landfill.
We acknowledge & understand that we personally have a duty to the planet to go above and beyond any legal or regulatory requirements. We continually seek to reduce our impact and are constantly looking for new and innovative ways to improve through our operational decisions.
Policy Aims
We will make every reasonable effort to:
Comply with and exceed all relevant legal & regulatory requirements
Continually improve and reduce environmental impacts through the use of Fair Trade and ethically sourced gemstones
Continually improve and reduce environmental impacts through the use of recycled silver in our restoration process (sourced from CooksonGold)
Continually improve and reduce environmental impacts through the responsible recycling of all trade waste, purchasing recycled materials and maintenance of electronic records
Continually improve and reduce environmental impacts through the recycling and reuse of materials in our work
Continually improve and reduce environmental impacts by selecting our trade locations to minimise drive time and distance to lower carbon emissions
Continually improve societal good by increasing our use of Fair Trade & ethically sourced refreshments and hot drinks
Energy & Water
We are actively engaged in reducing our energy usage and water consumption where possible.
In our office and workshop:
Lights and electrical equipment will be switched off when not in use
Heating use will be kept to a minimum, wearing of layers is strongly encouraged.

At events:
All lighting uses high efficiency LED bulbs
We have eliminated the use of unnecessary electric appliances such as sound systems and kettles

Specific Behaviours
We are committed to recycling 100% of our waste paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, cans and glass
We are working with Ecologi to offset our carbon emissions through avoidance and removal schemes.
We do not offer plastic bags or disposable packaging.
We do not offer or purchase branded merchandise to hand out
All branded staff clothing is selected from fairtrade and ethically sourced fabric suppliers.
All staff are provided with a refillable water bottle and a reusable hot drink container to use at events (and at home!).
We source office stationery made from recycled paper wherever possible, and seek to reduce waste by reusing waste paper and maintaining comprehensive recycling facilities.
Work with our suppliers to reduce wastage in the supply chain. Examples include combining orders into single delayed deliveries, or delaying until collecting in person when paths cross at events/markets. Return & reuse of packaging materials from postage.
