On Saturday 9th July 2022 we headed back to Shropshire for our first visit to the Newport Show.
Running since 1890 this long established show is a star event in the UK Agricultural calendar. We were proud to be offered a trade space, and arrived to a prime (shaded!) spot – on the corner between the Sheep Show, Wildwood Alpacas and the Village Green.
Kyle took the opportunity early in the day to head out and explore the showground. He managed to find the Lake (just around the corner from our stall!), along with the lakeside Vintage Tractor and Steam Engine display. Moving on around the showground he took time out to watch a few rounds of the Show Jumping competition in the main ring. We have massive respect for both the riders and the horses in the heat of the weekend!
Meanwhile, on the stall we sadly lost the ability to take card payments. Well done to everyone who came along to the Newport Show – you managed to overload the local phone masts! We must say thank you to everyone who was willing to accept our offer of a payment link and postal delivery. You should all have received your parcels by now.
The afternoon brought a brief break when Atkinson Action Horses took to the main ring. Kyle again snuck off for a wander, watching the horses before heading back to the Village Green. Here he grabbed a front row seat(!) for the wonderful display by Stafford Morris.
Just after returning from the Morris we were treated to another flypast by the BBMF Lancaster bomber. She seems to be following us this summer! Today was a particularly low pass over the showground, getting both Clara & Kyle very excited.
At this point we would be remiss not to mention the educational and highly entertaining Sheep Show. We managed to watch all three full shows from inside our stall. If you get a chance to see them at any events make sure you take the time – dancing sheep are amazing to see!
Finally, as the day drifted to a close Clara got her escape from the stall. She found time to watch Atkinson Action Horses second display (and get some great photos!). We really cannot say just how amazing their display is – if you get an opportunity to see them perform DO NOT miss it. Clara also found the duck/poultry tent where she was allowed to hold a duckling. For those who know Clara you will understand how happy this made her!
One final amazing moment came when we were informed we had received a ‘Special Mention’ in the Best Trade Stall competition. This is the equivalent of second place! So thank you ever so much to the organisers for your kind words. Hearing positive feedback from you really made both of our days that extra bit special.
As usual we would like to end by saying thank you to the organisational team. Glitzy Vintage Jewellery Midlands had a fantastic day out at the Newport Show 2022. We will be back in 2023!
