Edwardian Silver Mizpah Brooch

This is a good example of an early 20th Century twin heart Mizpah brooch. Made from Sterling Silver it features the word ‘Mizpah’ on the left hand heart and the traditional Bible verse from Genesis 31:49 “May the LORD keep watch between you and me when we are absent from each other” on the right hand heart.
The brooch is fully hallmarked to the rear with Chester marks. Sadly the date letter is very badly worn, being almost unreadable, but the font matches that used from 1901 till 1926.
At some point in the past the brooch has been snapped and rejoined – causing the discolouration to the rear of the piece that can be seen in some photos.
This brooch measures 3.4cm in width by 1.9cm high.
