This is a great example of a WW2 period Middlesex Regiment sweetheart brooch in near perfect condition.
The Middlesex Regiment was founded as the Duke of Cambridge’s Own in 1881 as part of the Childers Reforms when several local regiments were merged.
In the Second World War the regiment served with distinction as part of the Defence of Hong Kong, holding out for 17 days against overwhelming odds and numbers before surrendering to the Imperial Japanese Army in December 1941. Later they served across northern Europe after the invasion of Normandy earning many battle honors.
The brooch measures 3cm wide and tall.
