Early C20th Middlesex Regiment Sweetheart Brooch

This is an early C20th Middlesex Regiment (Duke of Cambridge’s Own) Sweetheart Brooch, made from mother of pearl with a gilt and enamel badge mounted to the fore.
We are unsure on the dating of the brooch – due to the unusual nature of the diamond backing and the shape of the regimental badge we suspect this could be from the Second Boer War but it could be early First World War.
The brooch is in great condition, with limited wear to some of the enamel. The original double coiled joint pin fitting is still intact and largely rust free.
The brooch measures 3.5cm tall.
